Four separate studies conducted at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden in 2013 concluded that hypnotherapy “improves gastrointestinal symptoms and quality of life, and patient satisfaction is very high”. With one in 10 Swedes currently suffering from this syndrome, hypnotherapy is seen as reducing reliance on expensive health care resources. One of the studies, was conducted by Perjohan Lindfors, a doctoral student at the university.
