HYPNOSIS RELIEVES THE ONGOING ANXIETY OF DEPRESSION

If you are depressed, then just reading this post is a good sign. It means that you are trying to find a way to get yourself out of it. Depression is such a soul-destroying experience that it deceives you into believing that it just can’t be helped. The good news is that you’re on the right path because it can be eliminated. A modality that has shown positive results in the battle against this hopeless state of mind is hypnotherapy. CAN HYPNOTHERAPY HELP WITH DEPRESSION?

 The first and essential step is helping the client achieve a deeply relaxing positive state of mind, a state we call a hypnotic trance.  In this state of mind, the client is aware at all times, remembers everything and is in complete control. Because the mind is so calm during a trance, it is easy to access memories of events that may have been buried deep in the unconscious mind. The unconscious tends to bury memories that it deems too painful for us to deal with at the time they occurred. They remain buried as unresolved feelings - such as loss, resentment, regret, blame, anger, guilt, jealousy, and fear and are stored in our body and mind. The great Fritz Pearls refers to them as “unfinished business” and these unaddressed emotions haunt us throughout our lives, in ways that block our greatest aspirations and sometimes play havoc with our bodies.  They remain beyond our conscious control as they are hidden deep in our unconscious.

RELEASING BURIED MEMORIES AND SELF DEFEATING BELIEFS

Clinical hypnotherapy is an effective therapy for getting to the source of these misconceptions about ourselves and for releasing them so they don’t get recycled as self-sabotaging thoughts, behavior or physical ailments. Under hypnosis, we can safely go to the deepest levels of our unconscious to find these memories and let them go.

Further hypnosis sessions focus on replacing these negative thoughts and fears by powerful positive affirmations. Once these deeply buried negative thoughts and feelings have surfaced at the conscious level, and have been released, the mind is able and open to accepting and acting on suggestions on how to improve our life.

When this process is completed under hypnosis, clients report that their depression has lifted, that they have stopped the compulsive thoughts or self-defeating bbehavior and that they are ready to resume living their lives more positively.
